2017-Year End Newsletter
Dear Friend of Casey's House,
Another year has passed, and the time has come that we at Casey's House are reflecting on what we have done this year. Here are some of the highlights:
- Alongside of local TNR groups, we have facilitated over 300 spay/neuters
- Adoptions at the Leesburg Petco have increased by 50%
- We have provided ongoing sanctuary to 45 cats including Peepers, pictured below.
Peepers: Peepers is a Manx cat which suffers from Manx Snydrome. She is one of the sweetest, loving cats that I have known. Being that I have had many come through these doors; that is saying a lot! She is unadoptable because she is incontinent; her room is covered with towels that have to be changed constantly. Peepers is a cat that seeks and thrives on human contact. Each evening, just before bedtime; I get her from her room and wash her hind end. I then bring her in my plant room where we watch the news and late show together. She has become a regular part of my nightly routine. I always have a towel ready and we always end the night with her snuggled in my arms with me holding her tight wishing that I could offer her more.
Peepers, and the special needs cats like her; are what Casey's House is about. A place where these cats can live out their lives without fear of euthanasia. Please help us continue our mission to provide homes to many of the elderly and hard to adopt cats in our region; dedicated to the promotion of Trap-Neuter-Return to help end the plight of feral and other abandoned cats!

Leo: He is a beautiful kitten. He is a sweet, sensitive boy, with a little voice heard rarely. he loves to run around and play with his buddies and sleep next to them or on you! He has a very laid back personality, He knows when he wants to be pet and loved on, and when he does he will purr, lay on top of you. He will fall asleep on your lap or in the crook of your arm with his tummy in the air. He loves tummy rubs He purrs loudly enjoying your closeness and presence. He loves to play chasing the ribbon on the stick, loves being under the covers and loves sleeping with Theo his buddy. Words for him are simply sweet, playful, and of course a love.

Lyra: She is a dainty little girl with a sweet beautiful face. She is very vocal about wanting to be pet and loved and cuddled. She loves nothing more than curling up and purring next to you, except maybe sitting on your chest and purring while you pet her. She is a little “motor-boat”. She will fall asleep right on your stomach/ legs, but ends up curled next to you kneading the thick blanket looking at you with her pretty eyes.she loves belly rubs and to lick you and her buddies! She loves to play and wrestle she is the fastest by far chasing the ribbon on the stick! she chases the stick end as well. She in a couple words is just sweet and lovable. She loves playing fingers under the blanket and being under he blanket and your knees!

Theo: I think that he is going to grow into a big solid beautiful tabby boy. As a kitten he is the most solid of the bunch sometime I call him my little chunk. He loves being on his back, belly in the air, and loves his tummy rubbed while he purrs madly. He is a “motor-boat”, even once I put the food down in the morning he will still be snaking around my ankles purring while the others have started to eat, he is a sweetheart. He loves to play, wrestle, and chase the ribbon on the stick. He chases your fingers under the covers or blankets. When the others are still playing he will often be the first to come over and want to be cuddled and pet then take a nice purring nap on my lap. He loves sleeping under your knees and the covers! He has such a nice laid back personality, he purrs loudly and often, I always know who will be the first to come over and want to cuddle whenever I enter the room. In a few words he is a laid back, sweetheart, a master of cuddles and purring.

Casey’s House, Inc. Intake Policy
Casey’s
House, Inc. receives many requests to place cats with us. Because we are a
no-kill facility, we are not able to take every cat. We limit our intake based
on the current capacity.
Casey’s House, Inc. accepts cats which are not adoptable. It is important to know that we will ask for
a surrender fee to help care for the cat you would like to place with us. It is also important to understand that most of the cats which are in our sanctuary are not socialized. We do have spots within our home for human-needy cats but those spaces are very limited. When we have space, preference is given to cats with physical disabilities such as blindness or lameness.
We do not have a waiting list. If we do not have the space for
your cat, you are welcome to check back with us at a later time. The Cat Intake Application can be requested by sending an email to info@caseyshouse.org

We have done so much this
year but we still have so much more to do.
More cats to get to the spay neuter clinic, more cats into their forever
homes, and more cats that need a place like Casey’s House where they can live
out their lives despite having issues with the litter box or some other flaw.
Please help us in our
mission to provide a home
to many of the elderly and hard to adopt cats in our region; and to promote
Trap-Neuter-Return to help end the plight of feral and other abandoned cats!

Sneezy
came to us early in Spring at about 9 months old. At first she was very shy and scared of the
other cats in our home. We weren’t able
to place her before kitten season so she wound up staying with us for most of
the year. About two months ago she
started to open up to us more and be less afraid of the other cats. I am happy to say that she has now been
adopted and went to her new home on the Saturday after Thanksgiving!
Mr. S was rescued from a high kill shelter in
Maryland. He appears to be a pure bred
Siamese with perfect flame point markings.
We initially tried to find him an adopted home but he was asked to leave
his adoption center after a few days when his very potent urine smell became a
problem. We had just gotten him neutered and had
expected the smell to cease after just a day or two but it actually took about
a full month! By that time, kitten
season had come and we had to put Mr S’s adoption on hold. He soon showed his value to us as every
kitten’s foster dad as he taught each and every one how to play and how to get
treats from the humans. He also protects
the kittens from the other adult cats, nobody dares to mess with “his” babies!
