Dear Friend of Casey’s House,

It has been ten years since a stubborn cat named Casey came into my life.  At the time I already had two cats and two dogs and so when she sat on my carport and meowed at me I told her that she needed to go home.  “Home” however, was a unhappy place with some 40 other cats, green water, and filthy food bowels.  It didn’t take long for me to give in and start feeding her before I sent her “home”.  However, as is often the case with cats, Casey kept pushing for more.  One day she stopped eating, briefly looked at me, and then proceeded to quickly and determinately walk right past me and into my house.  Once inside she headed for our kitchen table and sat right in the middle of the newspaper that my husband was reading and meowed at us as much to say “I’m here, I’m staying, deal with it!”  Since we were not really given much of a choice, we dealt with it!  I have never regretted letting Casey into my life that day, because of her and the quandary that her feline colony friends found themselves in a few months later when their people abandoned them I became involved in cat rescue.

Today Casey’s House is home to many cats that are not adoptable due to age, health, or behavioral issues.  We also maintain a population of about 10 adoptable cats, most of which are kittens of outdoor ferals.  We provide food, shelter, and medical care for all our residents.  Sadly, there are always more cats needing sanctuary then we can provide for and that is why a few years ago we started our low cost spay/neuter runs.  Until we get the cat overpopulation under control there will never be enough homes and those cats that are older, sick, or behaviorally challenged will more likely or not have nowhere to go.   For two months in a row now we have sent almost double our previous month’s amount of cats to be spayed/neutered for a total of 99 cats and 4 dogs!  The previous months had already averaged 25 per month so we are ready to break 300 spay/neuters this year!

With your tax-deductible gift we can continue to provide sanctuary for many hard to adopt cats in our region and to offer affordable spay/neuter to the many pet owners that need it!  We thank you for your support and from all the cats of Casey’s House a warm and thankful meow!

Sincerely,
Cindy Ingram

Dear Friend of Casey’s House,

In our December newsletter I told you about Zena, a lovable tortie cat that needed an operation to remove an eye that was causing her trouble.  Thanks to your generous support Zena has had her operation and is ready for her forever home!  Zena and all our adoptable cats can be seen at our petfinder website.

We have been going strong in 2012, finding homes for kittens of homeless mother cats (and then finding homes for the mothers!); spay & neutering not only cats but some dogs too (We have spayed/neutered well over 100 cats this year and are well on our way to doing another 100!), and providing santuary to 45 old and hard to adopt cats (like Zena).  We need your help to continue this important work.

You can support Casey’s House in a variety of ways:

·         Tax deductible gifts can be made either with the enclosed donation form or through our paypal account, a link to which is on our website, www.caseyshouse.org via our donation page.
·         Tax deductible gifts can be made through CFC through your employer, our number is noted above.
·         “igive” is an online shopping portal that donates a portion of your purchase to Casey’s House if you click on the ‘Shop Online Through IGive” line found on our donation page at our website www.caseyshouse.org
·         We are collecting aluminum cans.  Bagged cans can be brought to either Petco on Saturdays (by 5PM) or any time to our Bluemont location.  Call Cindy at 703-220-9965 for more information.

We will continue our mission of providing a safe and loving home for our hard to place cats and working to put an end to the pet over population problem.

Together we can make this world a better place for all our feline friends!  Thank-you for your support!

Sincerely,

March 10, 2012

Dear Friend of Casey's House,

This year we are looking to double, even triple the number of cats spayed/neutered through our transport program and we are well on our way.  Just barely into March and already 73 cats have been spayed/neutered via our transport, most of which were female.  Mating season has started and we can't afford to slow down now but we need your help to continue this important service.  Your tax deductible gift of any amount will help us provide the much needed service of low cost spay/neuter to the Northern Virginia area.  Donations can be made online through our secure website or by mail, http://www.caseyshouse.org/donate.html provides links to our paypal online donation or a mail in form that can be printed.  However you wish to support Casey's House, we thank you!

In our end of the year newsletter I told you about a blind cat named Zena who needed an operation to remove one of her eyes that was causing her discomfort.  I am happy to say that she has had her operation and is doing quite well!  She is now listed on our Petfinder website along with other cats in need of their forever home.  Hopefully in our next newsletter I will be able to tell you that Zena has found her forever home!

Lastly and most importantly, please spread the word about our low cost spay/neuter transport!  Too often I hear the words "I wish I had known about your service 5 years and 40 cats ago..."  Please help us make this a better place for our feline friends by helping us stop the plight of homeless and abandoned cats in our area!

Sincerely,
Cindy Ingram
